Normally the online ordering process is relatively smooth. You place the order, we fill the order. Occasionally, we need to contact you about your order. Sometimes, that also goes smoothly. Other times, though, we do not receive a response within ten days or more and so cancel your order. Only then do customers realize that our emails were not spam. Because we would like every order to go smoothly, let's discuss how you can tell whether an email from us is legitimate.
First of all, the term "spam" refers to junk email, i.e., unsolicited advertising. We do not spam. We have a newsletter, but you need to sign up for it. If you no longer wish to receive it, there should be an unsubscribe link at the bottom of each message. The emails that we send concerning your order are not spam. We're not trying to sell you anything.
What we suspect worries some people is that our messages are a scam somehow. Here's how you can tell that they are legitimate.
- When you place your order, you are sent a confirmation email which includes your order number. That number will be in the subject of our emails.
- We almost never ask for money. Far more commonly, something you've ordered is out of stock (usually a t-shirt) and we're wondering if you would like to choose a substitute or whether you would like us to refund the cost of the sold out shirt, or even cancel your entire order. So, we're not asking for money. We're offering to refund you.
- Another common reason for receiving an email from us is that you entered an invalid shipping address. When this occurs, we include the address you gave us, along with the option(s) our shipping system is proposing. Again, you can check the confirmation email that you received to confirm that the address in the email matches the one you provided. So, we're not trying to pry information from you; just get you to correct the information you gave us.
- We never ask for any financial information by email or text. We never ask you to pay for something using gift cards.
